Parent Seminar
for
Spell to Write and Read
Cornerstone Christian School uses Spell to Write and Read (SWR) as its primary instructional program to build successful foundational literacy skills in our students. Building precept upon precept, SWR is a proven method that incorporates the concept and delivery of multi-sensory learning. Daily instruction, beginning in our Early Learning Centre and taught throughout all our grades, includes phonogram practice where students learn to identify all the symbols and sounds of speech. We teach the students to access higher-order thinking which ultimately leads to good spelling and reading skills, increased comprehension, and effective oral and written communication.
In order for your child to have the best support possible in their acquisition of the necessary skills to become good readers and writers, we recommend that parents of CCS students attend this important seminar. At Cornerstone, we believe that students achieve their highest potential when both home and school work together as partners. Please come and find out why your child is learning “phonograms” and what you need to do at home to support their success.
